Never Gone Portraits

We love our animals. It's as simple as that.

They’re our companions and best friends, and we all have our special memories of them either in the here-and-now, or in the past.

Whether they were the first family pet that we can remember or the first pet we’ve personally owned. Let’s be honest, that unconditional love is hard to find elsewhere.

Capture The Essence

‘Autumn’

Equine elegance

‘Mushka’

‘Mushka’. The perfect poser.

‘Max’

In my pet portraits, I aim to capture the very essence of your pet. Some animals are perfectly groomed, born-posers but others are simply rascals, mischievous and maybe even a little scruffy!

They might have a favourite bed or ball, and if that’s the case, let’s include it. If your pet is anything like Trev (my dog) it will, infact be a favourite chair. His alone, no human bums allowed.

The magnificent

Past or Present

Whether it’s a gift or your own personal desire to have your pet illustrated, framed and hanging on your wall, like any family portrait, your pet deserves that place (and let’s face it…the extra attention!) You may have more than one furry family member you’d like to be drawn together in one art work…all options can be discussed.

‘Murphy’, commissioned as a gift of remembrance for his owners.

‘‘Max’, commissioned by two daughters to their mum who struggled to get over losing her ‘boy’.

Yoshi
One of 3 treasured pets, framed and hanging forever as a family of 3.

There really is no better way to immortalise your pet than to have an original art work made, and as an artist, there’s no greater privilege than to spend hours working on a commissioned piece of an animal no longer with us.

It’s a trust between myself and my customers that I find hard to compare with any other art project.

In Memory of

Where Did It Start?

At 16 years old, my older sister asked me to draw ‘Otto’ for her husband’s birthday. Otto was a particularly handsome Weimaraner, and as a teenage dog/cat/horse/goat lover, determined to make a career out of art, I accepted.

It seems it was a success and after not-so-long, word of mouth spread and it became a ‘thing’, a new hobby to bring in a little more pocket money andultimately, to become a business.

How Do We Go About It?

Between you as the customer and me as the artist, it’s essential that we pick the right photograph to work from (if you’re local to me, I’ll happily come and take the picture myself).

The only thing I insist on is that the selected photograph is clear and a true representation of your pet. Colour is important, of course, so it’s often a good idea to send more than one photograph, including one taken in natural light if at all possible.

What Will It Look Like?

Working in pastel and pencil crayon is the perfect animal-friendly medium in my opinion. Whether it’s smooth coats or little ruffians that are needing representation, the diversity of a pastel crayon covers all bases.

The format and size is something we can discuss between us and once we have everything that we need, I will be able to quote you a price and we can take it from there.
